Navy: the Maestrale ship in Catania, it will be dismantled after 30 years

(ANSA) - CATANIA, November 16th – The Navy’s  Maestrale frigate will arrive in Catania tomorrow, at its sixth stop-over during a naval campaign that will call at numerous Italian ports before arriving in La Spezia on December 7th for its imminent dismantlement after 30 years of operations.

The ship was given to the Navy in 1982, first unit resulting from the 1975  naval law, that along with the other “twin” ships of the “Venti” class, has represented the backbone of the Naval Marine Unit throughout all the years of operational activity around the seas of the world.  

Onboard of the Maestrale ship, it will be possible to attend the press conference held by Commander Giuseppe Rizzi, and see an historic photo exhibit on the Great War with a Conference on this subject specifically made for students.
