Monuments and Folklore

The port of Catania is located in a strategic area for those cruise or yacht passengers willing to visit the majority of the downtown artistic and cultural heritage:

·       Piazza Duomo with its majestic Cathedral and Palazzo degli Elefanti, hosting the town hall. Right in the center of the square you can find the Fontana dell’Elefante, the symbol of Catania. Nearby, you can visit Palazzo dei Chierici, the Museo Diocesano, Porta Uzeda and the marvelous Fontana dell’Amenano. Amenano is the underground river that flows under the whole city and emerges right in Piazza Duomo. Always underground, you can visit the Terme Achilliane.

·       La Pescheria, the old fish market of Catania, a place full of folklore and cheerfulness. In the picturesque alleys along which the market lives its everyday life, you can hear a constant shouting of people selling their products, smell persistent fragrances and admire brilliant colors, remaining in the mind and heart of people experiencing a walk in this wonderful and unique world.

All this and much more in a five minute walk from the port

Furthermore, there’s a sightseeing tour of the city on an open bus leaving from the Vecchia Dogana building, inside the port.
